Customizable DIY Bath Bomb Recipe

Toss a bath bomb into your tub for the ultimate bath time experience.

Below is a simple bath bomb recipe you can customize to give it your own style.

The recipe creates 3 5oz bath bombs.

Ingredients

1 Cup Baking Soda
1/2 Cup Citric Acid
1/3 Cup Magnesium Salt (optional)
1 /2 Tablespoon Almond Oil or your favorite oil
1/2 Tablespoon Polysorbate 80
6ml Fragrance Oil (optional)

Cosmetic Grade Colorants Until your reach your desired shade (optional )

Witch hazel as needed

Items Needed

Spray bottle
Mixing bowl and measuring spoons
Gloves
Bath Bomb Mold
Clean work area

Instructions

Wipe down and clean your work area. I love using Clorox wipes. They make clean up quick and simple.
Mix your dry ingredients together thoroughly. (Baking soda, Citric acid, Magnesium salt, desired colorants )
Mix your wet ingredients together thoroughly (Almond oil, Polysorbate 80, Fragrance – Excluding Witch hazel)
Combine dry and wet ingredients (excluding witch hazel) until thoroughly combined.
Mist mixture with witch hazel and mix thoroughly 1 spray at a time. Consistency is right when you can form a snowball with your hands and gently drop the ball back into the bowl and it doesn’t crumble apart.
Fill each half of the bath bomb molds until full. Stick your thumb into the center of one side and lightly over fill that side until there is a mound of bath bomb dust then gently press both sides together. Do not snap the mold together, the bath bomb should be thick enough that the molds don`t touch.
Lightly press on the sides of the bath bomb molds until one half of the mold comes off.
Place exposed side of the bath bomb on to a clean surface and gently tap or press on the sides of the other half of the mold to reveal bath bomb.

(Tip: placing the bath bombs on top of wax paper on top of a fluffy towel is a great way to prevent your bath bombs from getting flat bottoms)

Let dry until hard. 24-48 hours depending on the humidity in your area.
